Is The Backlash Against Obama Really Race Related.?

Before you think about reporting this query as being offensive please consider I am not racist it is an honest question based on what I have seen in my community. You can ,and I certainly will, report anybody who goes off on a racist rant in regards to this.
I do not like the race card being played but I live in a very conservative community who has always had republican leaders and always voted in support of the republican party. But the venom and hate I hear in regards to the current president is unlike anything I have ever heard before when a Democrat has lead the country. Clinton was bashed here for being a womanizer and other things but it was always in the form of a blue joke or light compared to the hate I have heard when people talk about Obama. When free health care was discussed or proposed with other administrations people got mad and made remarks but not like I hear now.
Is this because our president is colored. Yes Republicans and Democrats have always bashed each other but this seems to be the worst it has ever been. When I hear people go off on President Obama race usually gets thrown in the conversation. At a gun show last week there were several vendors selling pictures doctored to make Obama look like Hitler and said Fascist (as a jew this hurt me so badly) but these same damn vendors were selling the Nazi flag,Nazi memorabilia and the signs in regard to trading food for a gun or about having a gun( the Nazis used it in Germany during WW2 but I forgot the wording). How can you bash a leader and try to get people to fear him by comparing him to Hitler and then sell items in support of the Nazi party that obviously are recognized as hate related.
If the current leader was a white man would he be getting as much flack. would this be the same if a woman would be president. I live in Texas where until the early 1970′s laws and taxes were still in place that made it near impossible for minorities to vote. Have certain people really excepted the progress and change since the Civil Rights Movement .

  1. Duke says:

I don’t care about his race. I actually voted for the Obama. Unfortunately, the guy I voted for, and the guy we got, turned out to be two entirely different people.

  2. Librals our Reely Smorter says:

Find a clue, genius. Race related? Oh, yeah, it has to be. That explains him being elected in the first place. Genius.
The venom is due to disagreeing with his unconscionable POLICIES and his bankrupting of an entire NATION.

  5. rz1971 says:

Even if Obama was white, or a woman, it’s his policies that I don’t like. As a result, it wouldn’t matter to me what he looked like or gender, I still wouldn’t like the policies.

  6. John Milton says:

Jimmy Carter was white, had similarly flawed economic policies -I don’t remember anyone asking then if the flack Jimmy was getting was race related?

  7. Jerry says:

Try moving beyond race in your thinking to consider issues and policies.

  9. The Big A -- American Atheist says:

it is both — we have the first black president at the time this nation is bitters divide since the civil war — both extremes come out

His incompetence has nothing to do with his race just his incompetence.~

  11. Don't be a Pecker says:

It’s related to the presidential race.

  12. fretobem says:

No! it’s policy related! His arrogance and divisiveness doesn’t help him either.

  13. sowhat says:

race has nothing to do with it.
He’s an AzzHole, and I’m being nice

  21. Rude Ahole 3 says:

Here we go. Use the race card.

  22. itsamini says:

I’m sure there are some that don’t like him because he is black, but I don’t that applies to the average person. He has chosen to tackle some very sensitive issues. People’s emotions are running high due to the economy. No matter who would be in office right now they would be taking just as much flack if not more. I think people are scared to call him on a lot of things because they don’t want to be tagged as raciest. So actually I think he is getting an easy pass.

  23. Kinkade 0001 says:

‘‘Laws that forbid the carrying of arms… disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.’’
    — Jefferson’s “Commonplace Book,” 1774-1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764
‘‘Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA – ordinary citizens don’t need guns, as their having guns doesn’t serve the State.’’
    — Heinrich Himmler
‘‘The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non ["something essential" lit. "without which not"] for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let’s not have any native militia or police.’’
    – Adolph Hitler, Edict of March 18, 1938

  24. Keepin It Real says:

Why did 63% of whites vote for Obama? and look at Massachusetts, they gave Obama 67 % of their votes, and then turned around and voted against who he wanted and put a republican in. Of course you have people who are racist. Most of the country including me wanted a black president but like my father says, he is Jimmy Carter all over and conservatives hated Carter also. Now liberals will say it’s race because they are big supporters of using the race card, but ask them why they fight for welfare for blacks, instead of fighting for jobs? answer…. because they give them that little 126 dollars a month in nreturn for a vote, that’s slavery right there.

  25. SteamRol says:

Race is unquestionably related, though not all that hate him have racial bias. However, I do recognize that the majority of people that hate Obama are listening to the pundits’ mass hysteria created by these hate mongers, i.e. “where’s his birth certificate,” “the health care will kill grandma” etc. Unfortunately, any good that he might be capable of doing is being stifled by these factions and it’s hampering the progress this country could make.
And I don’t believe that a female would endure the same hostility because no large group hates women.
